Update: I created HubSpot app that connects Discord to HubSpot 🎉
You can check it out on the Conncord website—and try it out for free if you'd like!
The app does these things:
- Import Discord members into HubSpot
- Send messages to channels via HubSpot workflows
- Assign/unassign roles via HubSpot workflows
- Schedule HubSpot reports to be sent to Discord channels or members via HubSpot reporting
I'm pumped to be putting an app out in the world. Check it out if you're interested—there's a generous trial! :)
I've been working with a startup that has built a tool which makes it 10x easier to construct virtual experiences—3D virtual events, classrooms, museums, architecture designs, things like that.
While the company's product is in beta, the team is working hard to get as much user feedback as possible to understand how to improve the platform, what features to focus on, what tutorials and guides to create for successful onboarding and retention, and understand all the different possible use cases for the product. And arguably the best way to do this is by establishing a Discord server where users, developers and customer success teams can mix together and communicate directly with each other.
Having your community on Discord also allows you to own your audience. It enables you to freely communicate directly with the people who are clearly interested in your product—without any interference from fickle algorithms that social media platforms bring with them.
However, there is one challenge
Typical CRMs and marketing tools don't natively integrate with Discord. So marketing and CSM teams have very little understanding of which, or how many of their users are in the Discord community so they can identify the power users and engage with them. If a team is using Discord for onboarding, training, support and user retention, it is bad if Discord is unable to talk to the CRM (HubSpot in this case) or the product platform because the team
- has no idea how many of their Discord members actually have an account on the platform
- and has to create and track support tickets manually
If you're paying $800-$1,200 per month for a tool like HubSpot, this is not great.
Here's How To Connect HubSpot to Discord
If you have a backend and users need to create an account to use your product, you can give users the option to connect their account to Discord, or better yet incentivize them to do so (by offering rewards or discounts).
Here's how it works:
~~Tool To Connect HubSpot to Discord (for marketing campaigns, analytics, etc...)~~
~~I'm considering creating a tool that natively connects Discord to HubSpot so marketing teams can take a variety of actions via HubSpot's built-in workflows:~~
- ~~Add user to channel~~
- ~~Assign roles to users~~
- ~~Send marketing messages to channels~~
- ~~Send marketing DMs to users~~
- ~~More cool stuff~~
~~If I find out there's more interest, I'll build this tool to make the lives of Marketing and RevOps teams easier. If you're someone who finds this interesting, let me know!~~
